Twende Butiama ® is an annual cycling event which mobilizes cyclists around the world to cycle to commemorate Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, founding father of Tanzania, who died on October 14th, 1999.
A scenic ride from Dar es Salaam to Butiama covering 1,500+ kms, on tarmac roads. We cycle to honor Mwalimu Nyerere’s legacy through cycling and community engagement by promoting education, inclusive health, and environmental care.
